68th Pennsylvania Infantry

Today’s monument is the 68th Pennsylvania Infantry.

Located at Peach Orchard, the 68th Pennsylvania was known as the “Scott Legion.” From Philadelphia and Montgomery county, it numbered almost 400 strong at Gettysburg. The commander was Colonel Andrew H. Tippin (1822-1870). When Tippin took over command of the brigade, Capt. Milton S. Davis (1824-November 27, 1863) took command of the regiment. Both Tippin and Davis were veterans of the Mexican War.

The regiment also has a monument located along the Wheatfield Road.
