The 7th Ohio monument is a simple stone structure located on the “saddle” between upper and lower Culp’s Hills.

Known as the “Roosters,” the 7th was raised from the counties of Cuyahoga, Lake, Lorain, Portage, Mahoning, and Trumbull –the areas around Cleveland and Youngstown. The commander was Col. William R. Creighton (1837-1863). He survived Gettysburg only to be killed at the battle of Ringgold, Georgia on November 27, 1863. The regiment numbered nearly 300 at Gettysburg.
