why I am destiny
OK, I’m not destiny. I just always wanted to use a chapter title from Nietzsche’s Ecce Homo as a blog post title.
Speaking of Nietzsche, that which does not kill us only makes us stronger, right?!?
It’s currently 4 degrees — yes FOUR DEGREES — and it feels like FOURTEEN DEGREES BELOW ZERO. The gym better be open … and my ancient rusting Oldsmobile better start …
Are you listening up there, God? It’s me, Jenny. Know we haven’t been on great terms since the whole cancer thing. But maybe You gave me cancer to test me, to make me a better person. To improve my character. Well, God, I think I have enough character. I’m tired of building character. SO PLEASE GIVE ME 50 DEGREES, SUNSHINE, AND SOME BLOOMING WILDFLOWERS!
Gimme fuel, gimme fire, gimme what I desire: warm weather!
Oh. My prayers were answered! I refreshed weather.com and it is now five degrees and feels like only eleven below. Break out the shorts!
(Someone please remind me of my whining in July when it’s 80 degrees at 6:30 AM.)
(And a better title of this post would have been Why I am not so Wise.)
I was just thinking the other day how nice 40 degrees sounds. I don’t recall 40 degrees ever sounding so nice before. Not much longer of this crap and spring will be putting a smile on your face.
Luckily the gym was open … Where it was a balmy 80 degrees! My choice is freeze or fry. :)
I’m with you, girl. I usually venture out in the cold, but this is simply too much!
I’m choosing to fry. :)
Come to Houston! The sun is shining, it’s in the 50’s, it’s a great excuse to get out of Ohio for a few days.
Jenny,
Better destiny than density….
I’m fortunate, my gym is always at 65. I’ll find out if my gym is cheap or actually like to keep things at a comfortable temperature for working out this summer. If they don’t run the air and let the temp’s hit 80 inside, I’ll know it’s because they are cheap. I picked a good winter to join a gym for the first time in five years.
Jenny, do you run the same mileage on the treadmill as you would if you were to run outside or do you shorten your run?
I usually run on the treadmill for an hour or so, then I will run around the 1/12th a mile indoor track until I get dizzy. I do a little less indoors, but still the old people find me funny because I’m there for two hours usually. :) It helps that I can go off-peak hours.
We have lots of old people who use the gym, so I think that may be why it is so hot in there. The runners complain, but I guess we’re just too few in number.
