Witness Tree Update

Per an update from the Friends of Gettysburg, officials have “high hopes” that the Honey Locust witness tree in the National Cemetery which was damaged in the August 7th storm will survive the damage it sustained.
I know nothing about trees — but you can see the visual damage to the top of the tree here. Basically it appears that half of the tree was damaged by the lightning strike. The tree still was green, though, so hopefully it will recover and be there for years to come.
