Black Horse Tavern Plaque. About the Main Monument What does it depict? Painted inscription tablet, 2’9″x1’8″. Mounted on fluted post, 3′ high. Located in front of the stone house which was the tavern site. How is it inscribed? The monument is inscribed as follows: At the time of the battle of Gettysburg this was the name of the tavern kept in this stone house which was built in 1813 and in a large log house much of older date then adjoining. When was this photograph taken? September 19, 2009. Where is it located? Outside the Gettysburg National Military Park on the Fairfield Road.
