What size is it? 36′ by 36′ base. Weight: 300 Pounds. Height 5’4″. Tablet measures 4 feet by 3 feet 8 inches. Who made it? Albert Russell & Sons Co. of Newburyport, Massachusetts. The Eighth New York Cavalry is honored by a monument at Gettysburg. About the Main Monument When was it dedicated? June 9, 1889. What is it made out of? Sculpture: Barre granite with bronze relief; Base: granite. What size is it? Sculpture: approx. 10 ft. x 6 ft. x 2 ft. 4 in.; Base: approx. 6 in. x 9 ft. 2 in. x 5 ft. 6 in. Who made it? The Twelfth Illinois Cavalry is honored by a monument at Gettysburg. About the Main Monument When was it dedicated? Sept. 3, 1891. What is it made out of? Sculpture: Westerly granite with bronze relief; Base: Westerly granite. What size is it? Overall: approx. 12 ft. x 3 ft. 9 1/2 in. x 2 ft. Who made it? Smith Granite Company, contractor. What does it depict? Rough-hewn monolith with polished inscription panels and a saddle with cavalry accouterments draped over the top.
