The Forty Ninth New York Infantry is honored by a monument at Gettysburg. About the Main Monument When was it dedicated? July 2, 1893. What is it made out of? Sculpture: granite with bronze elements; Base: granite. What size is it? Sculpture: approx. 8 ft. x 4 ft. 2 in. x 4 ft. 2 in.; Base: approx. 18 in. x 6 ft. 8 in. x 6 ft. 8 in. Who made it? Frederick & Field, fabricator. What does it depict? Vertical rectangular sculpture with Gothic-apexed cap stands on a tiered base. There is a relief of crossed rifles and a wreath on the front face.
