About the Main Monument When was it dedicated? Erected circa 1912. What is it made out of? Foundation: Concrete. Monument: Polished smooth sea-green granite. Plaque: Bronze. What size is it? 36′ by 36′ base. Weight: 300 Pounds. Height 5’4″. Tablet measures 4 feet by 3 feet 8 inches. Who made it? Albert Russell & Sons Co. of Newburyport, Massachusetts. The Sixteenth Maine Infantry is honored by a monument and a position stone at Gettysburg. About the Main Monument When was it dedicated? Oct. 3, 1889. What is it made out of? Sculpture: granite; Base: granite. What size is it? Overall: approx. H. 24 ft.; Base: approx. W. 5 ft. x D. 5 ft. Who made it? Unknown, sculptor. What does it depict? Obelisk stands on low square base. There are reliefs on three sides, including a state coat of arms, draped flags, state seal, and corps insignia within an oak and laurel wreath. What does it honor? The Ninety Fourth New York Infantry is honored by a monument at Gettysburg. About the Main Monument When was it dedicated? 1888. What is it made out of? Sculpture: Westerly granite with bronze elements; Base: granite. What size is it? Sculpture: approx. H. 14 ft.; Base: approx. W. 6 ft. x D. 6 ft. Who made it? Smith Granite Company, fabricator. What does it depict? Obelisk stands on tapered pedestal and tiered, rough-hewn base. Three upright, crossed muskets with bayonets are affixed to the front of the obelisk. The 1st Corps disk insignia is above the muskets. A round New York state seal relief is affixed to the front of the pedestal. The One Hundred Fourth New York Infantry is honored by a monument at Gettysburg. About the Main Monument When was it dedicated? Sept. 4, 1888. What is it made out of? Sculpture: Quincy granite with bronze reliefs; Base: granite. What size is it? Overall: approx. 14 ft. 4 in. x 7 ft. x 7 ft. Who made it? Frederick & Field, fabricator. What does it depict? Tapered shaft with a rough-hewn pedestal stands on a tiered, smooth and rough-hewn base. The faces of the shaft are polished. The monument is topped with a Corps disk insignia.
