The 11th Corps, 3rd Division, 1st Brigade was also known as Schimmelfenning’s Brigade. During the battle of Gettysburg, it served as a member of Schurz’s Division in the Eleventh Corps, Army of the Potomac. About the Main Monument When was it dedicated? Erected circa 1912. What is it made out of? Foundation: Concrete. Monument: Polished smooth sea-green granite. Plaque: Bronze. What size is it? 36′ by 36′ base. Weight: 300 Pounds. Height 5’4″. Tablet measures 4 feet by 3 feet 8 inches. Who made it? Albert Russell & Sons Co. of Newburyport, Massachusetts. Erected by the United States War Department. What does it depict? The One Hundred Fifth Seventh New York Infantry is honored by two monuments (one on the Carisle Road and one on the Mummasburg Road) and a position stone at Gettysburg. About the Main Monument When was it dedicated? Sept. 1886. What is it made out of? Sculpture: Quincy and Barre granite with bronze elements; Base: granite. What size is it? Sculpture: approx. H. 14 ft. 2 in.; Base: approx. W. 6 ft. 6 in. x D. 5 ft. 9 in. Who made it? New England Monument Company, fabricator. What does it depict? The monument is a tapered shaft on a tiered rough-hewn base. The Forty-Fifth New York Infantry is honored by a monument and a position stone at Gettysburg. About the Main Monument When was it dedicated? Oct. 10, 1888. What is it made out of? Sculpture: Concord granite with bronze elements; Base: granite. What size is it? Sculpture: approx. H. 16 ft.; Base: approx. W. 6 ft. x D. 6 ft. Who made it? Burberl, Caspar, 1834-1899, sculptor. New England Monument Company, fabricator. What does it depict? Obelisk stands on a pedestal and rough-hewn base. There are reliefs of the crescent corps insignia on the upper front and rear sides of the obelisk.
